Description
Most 40-acre lots require a "trailers and 4x4s" expedition; this one just requires a turn signal.

Forget the "landlocked" desert parcels that require a tank to reach. This 40-acre estate offers the rare trifecta of massive acreage, direct adjacency to thousands of acres of public land, and a "straight-shot" logistics path to the Interstate. Whether you are looking for a private hunting basecamp, an off-grid homestead, or a long-term land bank, this site is positioned for maximum utility.

Main Highlights:
• Unrivaled I-80 Access: Enjoy the rare convenience of a high-desert retreat just 5.5 driving miles from the I-80 entrance ramp. With only 1.84 miles to Pilot Road and a straight shot to the interstate, you can skip the grueling off-road expeditions and be on your land in minutes.
• The Pilot Peak Backdrop: Secure a front-row seat to one of Nevada’s most iconic landmarks. Your 40 acres sit in the literal shadow of the 10,716-foot Pilot Peak, providing dramatic, 360-degree alpine-to-basin views that will never be obstructed.
• Direct BLM Adjacency: This isn’t just 40 acres—it’s a private gateway to thousands of acres of public territory. Bordering BLM land on your property line gives you a "permanent backyard" for world-class hunting (Unit 079), hiking, and exploration.

Area Highlights:
Strategically positioned just 5.5 miles from the I-80 interchange, this 40-acre parcel offers rare "turn-key" accessibility to the high desert without sacrificing the majesty of its 10,716-foot Pilot Peak views. The property directly borders thousands of acres of BLM land, providing a private gateway for world-class hunting in Unit 079 and endless recreational exploration. Located less than 2 hours from Salt Lake City and a short 20-minute drive to the 24-hour amenities of West Wendover, it is the ultimate accessible basecamp for the modern outdoorsman.

You are a quick 20-minute drive to the 24-hour amenities of West Wendover

Less than 2 hours from Salt Lake City, making this the ideal "Friday-to-Sunday" basecamp for the modern adventurer.

We’ve clocked the distance so you don’t have to. Enjoy the peace of the desert without the isolation of being "lost":

• 1.84 Miles to Pilot Road.
• 2.24 Miles down Pilot Road to I-80.
• 1.45 Miles to the I-80 Entrance Ramp.
• Total Access: Approximately 5.5 miles of total driving from the Interstate to your front gate.

Nearby Attractions

🏔️ Pilot Peak This is the dominant landmark of the region, located just a few miles east of your position. Hiking & Summiting: Pilot Peak is one of the most "topographically prominent" peaks in the U.S. It served as a beacon for the Donner Party and other pioneers crossing the salt flats. Reaching the summit at 10,716 feet is a grueling but rewarding 4WD adventure followed by a steep hike. Donner Springs: Located at the base of Pilot Peak, this is where the Donner Party rested and watered their livestock after the brutal trek across the Great Salt Lake Desert. It’s a somber but fascinating historical site. 🏘️ Montello (The Town) Just about 8-10 miles north of you is the small community of Montello. The Cowboy Bar: A classic, no-frills Nevada desert bar. It’s the social hub of the area and a great place to meet locals and hear stories about the surrounding ranching country. Railroad History: Montello was once a major "helper" station for the Southern Pacific Railroad. You can still see remnants of the old rail infrastructure and the vast tracks that stretch across the valley. 🎰 West Wendover & the Salt Flats About 30–40 minutes southeast via SR-233 and I-80. Bonneville Salt Flats: Just across the Utah border, these world-famous white salt crusts are where land-speed records are broken. Even when there are no races, you can drive onto the salt (when dry) for surreal photography. Historic Wendover Airfield: Visit the site where the crew of the Enola Gay trained for their WWII missions. It’s one of the best-preserved WWII airfields in the country. Casino Entertainment: If you need a break from the desert, West Wendover offers full-scale resorts, fine dining, and the Peppermill Concert Hall. 🌲 Wilderness & Wildlife Sunbeam Mine & Ghost Towns: The surrounding mountains are dotted with old mining claims and small "ghost" camps. Exploring these (carefully) offers a glimpse into the 19th-century silver and lead booms. Wildlife Viewing: This valley is home to large herds of pronghorn antelope, wild horses, and golden eagles. Stargazing: With almost zero light pollution, this is one of the darkest spots in the lower 48 states. The astronomical views here are world-class.
